For just £30 you get a season of stimulating evening talks by big names in gardening, and visits to iconic gardens in the summer months. Why not come and join us?

All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30 pm in Oxenhope Community Centre.

Admission, unless otherwise noted, is £5 for non members, members free. Membership is £30 per year.

20th February Jason Williams A welcome return of the cloud gardener from Manchester. He has a video channel here.
Jason has just returned from travelling around Europe and Asia studying urban green spaces and the effects of eco-tourism. He is delighted that Oxenhope Gardening Club will be one of the first organisations he will be sharing his findings with.

Razvan will speak about Walking on Flowers: Spring in the Peloponnese
This beautiful corner of the world is not only rich in autumn bulbs, but also in spring flowers. Be prepared to be amazed by intricate carpets of annuals, bulbs and perennials that sometimes stretch as far as the eye can see. Orchids, especially bee-orchids come in great numbers and in a dizzying diversity.
17h April Colin Hickman Hoyland Plants
Hoyland Plant Centre is a small family run nursery situated at the foot of the Pennines in South Yorkshire. It has been open for the past 35 years. Hoyland plants have the UK National Collections of Agapanthus, Clivia and Tulbaghia and they are passionate about the preservation of these beautiful plants.
Colin will be giving a demonstration on the cultivation and propagation of Agapanthus, Nerines and Dieramas along with other bulbs of the Amaryllidaceae family.
15th May Jacqueline Iddon Iddon Hardy Plants
Jacqueline will be bringing a range of plants for sale.

Plant Sale The plant sale will be held on Thursday, June 5th at 7.30 pm. There will be a wonderful collection of plants for sale and a delicious selection of cakes to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee, not forgetting the opportunity of winning something good in the raffle. Members donating plants should aim to arrive around 7pm. Please label plants and bring your own bags or boxes for purchases.
11th June (Wednesday) Garden Visit The Circles Garden at 10.30 am
This is at Midgley, Stocksmoor Road, WF4 4JQ, near Wakefield. Directions. It is a NGS garden that has been highly recommended and they are opening specially for our visit.
The cost is £8. Please pay at the Plant Sale on Thursday 5th June by cash or card, (we now have a card machine), or on line now, see details below.

5th August (Tuesday) Garden Visit Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens at 11 am followed by Breezy Knees Gardens.

On arrival Vanessa Cook will give a short welcome talk and history of the gardens then we are free to wander round. There is a café where we can buy drinks and home made cakes. Vanessa and gardening staff will be around to answer any questions. Plants are available to buy. Please look on the website prior to the visit so you can order on arrival. We then move on to Breezy Knees approx. 30 mins drive from Stillingfleet to arrive at 1pm. The cost of admittance to Breezy Knees is £12.50. We are free to look round the garden which is large and there is a café where we can buy more substantial food. 18th September Andrew Willcocks RHS Horticulturist
Wildlife and Gardening
Andrew is a horticulturist working in the woodland team at Harlow Carr. He will be talking about wildlife and gardening: this will include highlighting the issues in relation to insects and invertebrates found in gardens that are perceived to be a problem but are often actually beneficial.
Andrew will be donating a bird box, a bat box and a ladybird/lacewing box for the raffle.
16th October Dean Charlton Hootons Walled Garden and Nursery

Dean is the young gardener recently featured on the Gardeners World programme covering the RHS show at Wentworth Woodhouse in July. Dean was a student at Great Dixter
before setting up his nursery in the village of Hooton near Rotherham.

The October meeting will offer all new visitors a free taster session.
